Critical Raw Materials Facility
SAVE THE DATE – Feb 02-06 2027, Critical Raw Materials Field Trip through Namibia, incl. Green Hydrogen projects
Feb 2, 2027
- Feb 6, 2027

On behalf of the European Commission, the CRM Facility is pleased to notify you about an upcoming business mission to Critical Raw Material Projects in Namibia, just ahead of the 2027 Mining Indaba edition in Cape Town.
Benefitting from the wide presence of European industry and finance partners at the Indaba, as well as from the fact that Namibia is an EU-partner country under the ‘MoU on Sustainable Raw Materials Value Chains and Renewable Hydrogen’, we wish to provide you the opportunity to connect with projects that are of importance to your industry and to Europe, including projects selected as ‘strategic’ by the European Commission. In addition, the field trip also will showcase pilots around the wider green economy, such as a pilot hydrogen-propelled locomotive and a pilot hydrogen iron reduction plant.
While the exact locations, projects and timing yet need to be confirmed, the main points of the agenda will include:
Start on Tuesday, February 02, in the evening in Windhoek with a briefing for the upcoming field-trip and a subsequent networking dinner.
Three to four days of field trip around Windhoek, but also other locations, with project visits including hydrogen-pilots, as well as a number of critical raw material operations.
At the time being, Saturday Feb. 06 is foreseen as the end of the field trip, providing you with the opportunity to continue to Cape Town for the Mining Indaba.
If you are interested in taking part at the field trip (in whole or only for specific segments), please indicate your interest by filling out the form above.
We will be sending out a more detailed agenda in November and again in December, for final registrations.
We look forward to your presence.
