In June 2026, the CRM Facility and the European Commission will organise a dedicated B2B session and field visit programme in Kazakhstan in the framework of the Astana Mining Metallurgy Congress (AMM), further strengthening EU–Kazakhstan cooperation on critical Raw materials (CRMs).
The B2B event in Astana will bring together representatives from the European Commission, the Government of Kazakhstan, European industry and Kazakh mining and processing companies to discuss opportunities for industrial cooperation, investment and supply chain diversification.
Participating projects and organisations include Sarytogan Graphite, Ulba Metallurgical Plant, Tau-Ken Samruk, Lindian Resources and the Association of Mining and Metallurgical Enterprises (AGMP), alongside European stakeholders such as the Port of Rotterdam and KU Leuven.
The programme will be complemented by a multi-day field visit across southern Kazakhstan, offering participants direct insights into strategic projects linked to vanadium, nickel, cobalt and phosphorus value chains. Site visits will include Ferro-Alloy Resources’ Balasausqandiq vanadium project, Sary Arka Mining’s battery-grade nickel and cobalt sulphate pilot facilities in Almaty, and the Novodzhambul Phosphorus Plant (NDPP), which is exploring opportunities linked to lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery materials.
The initiative will highlight Kazakhstan’s growing importance as a strategic partner for Europe in the field of critical raw materials, battery materials and industrial processing, while also fostering dialogue on investment, technology cooperation and resilient supply chains between European and Kazakh stakeholders.
